STU is inspired by Sam’s Dad, Stuart Hill, who everyone called Stu. Stu was a passionate farmer; a dedicated tomato grower. Stu helped in every way to get this project off the ground - from preparing the vineyard all the way to planting and picking. Our name and the tomato logo pays homage to Sam’s late father, showing gratitude for his help, generosity and support.

The project itself is a Partnership between Sam and Brydie Hill. The grapes are grown on an elevated site on Mt Camel Range, near Colbinabbin, Taungurung Country. Stu loved this spot very much. The wine is then made in Castlemaine, Djaara Country. Both the growing and the winemaking adopts Minimal Intervention practices.

This project would not have been possible without the help and support of Stu himself, plus our hardworking and talented close friends and family. We have received incredible support with planting, pruning, picking, minding kids, bringing food and refreshments, bottle hookups, brand development and design, photography, websites and the wine making itself!
